Internship Information
Basic Internship Information
The Human Resource Development (HRD) 329 internship of six-credit hours that need to be taken after completing all other HRD courses. The HRD Internship needs to be done in a place where the student can showcase the knowledge that they have gained throughout their courses. Before starting the Internship the Intern will create a proposal where they will state the purpose of their internship. The student will indicate where the internship takes place as well as their plan for using the HRD knowledge they have acquired. At the end of the Internship, the Intern will create a portfolio that will be similar to the binder created for HRD 310, this portfolio will be turned in to the HRD 329 Professor at the end of the semester. The Intern will also do a presentation where they will talk about the process of creating their Internship project and the process involved.
Proposals are due before the semester starts. The proposal is to be sent to the HRD 329 Professor who will revise and let the Intern know if the proposed internship follows the HRD requirements and if any changes are needed.
Proposal Due Dates
The Internship is to be completed during the 15-week Spring and Fall semesters and during the Summer it is to be completed over 12-weeks. During that time the HRD Intern should spend a total of 200hrs working on their Internship project, which can be broken down into 13.3 hrs a week. A Time-Log Template can help keep track of the hours worked (see sample below):
